Todays bicycles are everywhere and there are lots of different classes or kinds of motorcycles too. But the motorcycle, like the automobile, is a comparative newcomer to the world stage.

The very first motorcycle ever constructed was built by the German inventors Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in 1885 at Bad Cannstatt at Germany. They were really focusing more about the motor which was installed to power the two-wheeled contraption and not so much on creating a new kind of vehicle, but the resulting impact on motorized travel will be tremendous. There were earlier versions of steam powered bicycles, however this is the first oil powered bike.

Not long then in 1894 the very first production motorcycle went available as the Hildebrand & Wolfmüller bicycle. It wasn't long then before several of the bicycle businesses of the time got into the act and started selling variations of what was basically motorized bikes. However, because horsepower increased, the motors started to outgrow the bike frames that were utilized as their carriage.

The most popular motorcycle business prior to World War 1 was motorcycle. After the war, Harley Davidson took over the number one place until 1928 when DKW became the major motorcycle manufacturer in the entire world. For a couple years following World War 2 BSA took over as the largest motorcycle producer until 1955 when NSU Motorworks who'd started out as a knitting machine company in 1884 became the most dominant manufacturer for the next couple of decades.

Then in fino 125 grande , Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki forced their entrance into this discipline, changed the face of the industry, and immediately became the most prominent bike suppliers to the planet from then on. Since the 70s Honda has held the name of this world's largest motorcycle maker. Today, the big four motorcycle makers have penetrated practically every motorcycle marketplace in the world, and they are highly regarded as manufacturers of premium excellent motorcycle products.

In recent years a number of the older motorcycle brands like the Indian have regained popularity with Harley Davidson being the strongest by far.
